Why Pasture Raised is the ONLY choice for your body, for the earth, and for the animals.

I'll always remember the first time I pulled a juicy, golden-roasted, pasture-raised chicken from the oven - a truly beautiful sight. Whole chickens come in various options like free-range, organic, and pasture-raised. Pasture-raised birds, meeting Steps 4 and 5 of the Global Animal Partnership's 5-Step Animal Welfare Rating system, live on open pasture, ensuring shelter, environmental features, and interaction with knowledgeable farmers. In other words, these are real chickens living in a real chicken environment, a statement which makes them far superior than any other option.

Raising slow-growing, natural animals outdoors, moved to fresh grass every single day (and sometimes twice a day) is what we do. Our Chickens take 10-12 weeks to reach market weight and our pigs take 10 months. They botheat a diet primarily of fresh grass and bugs, roots, apples and nuts. Because of this lifestyle they simply never get sick - period. We don’t need antibiotics or pesticides, fungicides, herbicides or any other “applicant”. Our animals live under the sun and shade on green grass as it should be.

Cooking a whole chicken opens up a world of possibilities, from roasting to baking, with budget-friendly options and versatility for leftover meals like Chicken Salad or Chicken Pot Pie, and of course chicken soup or bone broth from whatever is left.

With our hooved animals, saving the bones for nutrient-dense bone broth is the best way to boost your immune system to beat seasonal bolds and the flu and to ensure your own bones and brain are receiving all of the fatty-acids and nutrients necessary for maintenance and optimal health. Unlike making bone broth from store-bought animal products, Ridgemeade meat and bones is 100% free of any pesticides or other chemicals because we never use them. In fact, Ridgemade is one of the oldest (if not THE oldest) BioDynamic farm in the country continuously in operation since at least 1849.

You can point to someone’s “Organic Certificate” but the fact is, politics lays a heavy hand on all government certifications. Here at Ridgemeade we’ll do you one better - come to our farm any time to see for yourself the superior quality of life Ridgemeade livestock and poultry has. Read more about what we think of “certifications” HERE.

Come to our farm and check out what true, ethical, regenerative, and permaculture looks like. I’ll warn you however, once you do, you’ll never be able to buy grocery store factory meat again.
