At Ridgemeade Farm we’ve moved entirely away from grain and raise ALL of our animals out on organic, green pasture and in our woodland lots, slowly being converted into silvopasture. We cultivate our herd based on the traits we like best - good mothering instincts, pest and disease resistance, docility, and adaptivity to both the hottest summer days and the coldest winter nights, all with little to no intervention from the farmers.
Our cows live happy lives moving into flexile, fresh grass paddocks daily utilizing Alan Savory’s Holistic Management system. Not only is this the most ethical way to raise and harvest cows, it creates superior flavor and nutrient dense meat, and unlike commercial cows, we don’t have to prop up our animals with the doses of steroids and antibiotics. Thanks to our use of Holistic Management, we don’t even use pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides on our pastures. You won’t find meats of this quality at your grocery store.
