“Eaters must understand that eating takes place inescapably in the world, that it is inescapably an agricultural act,
and that how we eat determines, to a considerable extent, how the world is used.”
- Wendell Berry
Better Than Organic
We are currently seeking a passionate market gardener to partner with to run our 1/2 acre market garden.
When we say our produce is “better than organic” we mean it. We don’t use pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. We don’t even till our ground (the number one culprit of soil runoff and degradation in the world). Rather, we pile compose and manure directly onto pasture and cover the pathways with wood chips from windfall trees in our forests. The wood chips maintain moisture and help to create a cozy micro-climate for our sun and heat-loving veggies. We also inocculate them with King Strefaria mushroom spores for spring, summer, and fall sautéing mushrooms. Because we’re constantly rotating our plots and adding fresh compost, we don’t even need to weed and our produce stays clean and healthy!
