This is a deposit for a better-than-organic, pasture raised, Michaelmass Roasting Goose. The remainder is due upon delivery (between August 25 and September 15, 2025). Be sure to select your ideal size in the dropdown when ordering.

The famous and ancient Michaelmas tradition of the British Isles include a dinner of carrots and roasted goose—as explained by Fr. Leo Patalinghug and Dr. Michael Foley in
Dining with the Saints, Michaelmas was also known as “Goose Day” since farmers brought their fattened geese to market on that day.

Except amongst traditional Catholics, geese don't have a long tradition of being cooked in America. In Europe however, Geese is a highly sought after specialty meat. Goose meat is tender and flavorful and geese are surprisingly easy to cook. Check out our favorite ROAST GOOSE RECIPE!

Our Better Than Organic Geese are $12/lb - $14/lb depending on size selection. A $35 deposit per goose is charged at time of order and will be deducted from total due at delivery. Delivery date TBD (no later than September 15) (One pickup location in Pittsburgh, or pick up at farm in Erie. For delivery exceptions, email info@ridgemeadefarm.com

Our geese are truly free-ranged on large, 100% organic pasture paddocks, moved weekly to fresh grass for the juiciest, most nutrient dense and flavorful geese you have ever experienced. Weights will range from 8-16 lbs and are available on a first come first serve basis.
Heart, liver, neck, and gizzard included inside each goose.

As an added bonus, a goose renders plenty of fat - or as some say - liquid gold that is perfect to save for roasting vegetables and potatoes. Simply use a rack to cook your goose, so you're left with lean meat and delicious fat for later.

Serving Sizes

  • 8-10 lbs: serves approximately 5-6 people

  • 10-12 lbs: serves approximately 6-8 people

  • 12-14 lbs: serves approximately 8-9 people

  • 14-16 lbs: serves approximately 9-10 people

  • 16 & Up lbs: serves approximately 10-12 people

Cooking Times

    • 25-30 minutes per pound for a stuffed goose and

    • 18-22 minutes per pound for an unstuffed goose
